After watching the short
documentary on Margo Chase I thought it was very informative and educational.
From my point of view, it provided me an example of the life of a graphic
designer in the real world today. I thought it was very interesting that her
first job was working for a music label making album covers. Knowing she started
out as an album cover designer accidentally immediately grabbed my attention
because it is something that interests me as a future graphic designer. It was
also very pleasant to know Chase is woman who owns her own shop and has been
able to surpass all the stereotypical viewpoints of women not being able to
succeed in the art industry. Although she owns her own company, Chase Design Group,
she explained that when it comes to making projects and collaborating there is
usually a different leader for every project. Chase could very well take
control of all the projects, but she assigns different partners who have
different strengths to lead different projects. Another topic that Chase talked
about were books and the collection of books that she has. Chase talked about
how important it is to have references, and different ideas available when
doing various projects. Chase specified that some of the books that she has are
just for pure inspiration which either can’t even be found online or are the
only ones in the world to exist. Chase spoke about numerous topics that had
insightful information to understand and be exposed to.
